Since its launch in April 2009, the employees and friends of The Albatross Group have raised nearly £4,000 for charities and good causes.
What a fantastic achievement in just over 6 months!
This money has now been distributed and shared between our current nominated national charity, the “Make-A-Wish Foundation” and local good causes charities around the country. Local charities and good causes that have benefited from the Fund this year include:
- Heart of Kent Hospice
- Maidstone & North West Kent Crossroads
- Larkfield Scouts
- Macmillan Cancer Research
- Derbyshire Air Ambulance
The money has been raised in numerous different ways and the fun had along the way has been clear for all to see.
The following are just some of the events that have taken place:
The big event was the Summer Sports Day with 5 a side football tournament, the highlight of which must have been Tony Flanagan getting a red card! There have been Italian and French themed buffet lunches at the Trowbridge office, a welcome alternative to the standard lunch of sandwiches or salads. In Buxton they had a very successful Bring and Buy sale and in Epping they had their summer picnic on a rainy day at the start of October, now that’s real dedication to the cause!
Other events have included countryside walks, sales on E-Bay and car washing (thank you Lesley). We mustn’t forget the ongoing efforts which include Coppers for Claire Jars around the offices, Indian head massages and of course the sweet boxes, perfect for getting over that mid afternoon (or mid morning!) energy slump.
Everyone who has been involved in any of the events and indeed, everyone who has donated money should give themselves a big pat on the back for what we have achieved in the Fund’s first year. Claire would be truly proud – and her parents, Bernard and Denise, certainly are!
Be sure to click on the upcoming events at each of the offices to what other weird, wonderful and wacky fundraising events are being planned.
Here’s to an even more successful 2010………
